Uma Thurman sports new look: What the surgeons say

Is Uma’s new look more pulp fact or fiction?

Thurman caused tongues to wag after debuting a noticeably different face on the red carpet at the premiere party of her new NBC miniseries “The Slap” Monday in New York City.

Her new look sparked some serious speculation as the starlet sported a smooth forehead with minimal make up around her eyes, choosing only to accentuate her features with dramatic, wine-colored lips.

No one is sure whether the “Kill Bill” actress’ new look is only due to minimal makeup or whether Thurman went under the knife – even the experts are divided.

For Dr. Victoria Karlinsky, a cosmetic surgeon on the Upper West Side, the only difference in Thurman’s look was makeup. “Whoever the makeup artist was – they can really change her look with the stroke of a brush,” she told the Daily News, noting a possible lack of mascara and eyeliner leading to the noticeable change in appearance.

“If she had a facelift or other work, there would be a telltale sign,” she added.

But Dr. Phillip J. Miller of the Upper East Side’s Gotham Plastic Surgery, disagreed. “It looks as if Thurman had her lower lids treated – the shape of her eyes is different now,” he told The News.

But is the new look for the better? In Miller’s opinion, no. “It would be like if Cindy Crawford got rid of her mole,” he said. “Her eyes were her trademark, so she looks common now.”

There was one thing the surgeons agreed on – that the accomplished actress likely had Botox or fillers.

“I think she looks beautiful and age appropriate,” Karlinsky offered.

Just last month Thurman stepped out to promote “The Slap” during the TCA Tour and while she was rocking bangs for the photo op she still appeared alarmingly different.

Zellweger, 45, made similar headlines in late October when fans could barely recognize the “Bridget Jones’s Diary” actress at ELLE’s Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration.

Plastic surgeons were in agreement that the “Jerry McGuire” star had work done – but were divided on what exactly was nipped or tucked.

Some theorized Zellweger got a nose job and had some of the excess skin on her lower lid removed and possible fillers.

For her part, Zellweger has never confirmed she’s had work done, saying instead in a statement that she’s “living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it shows.”

Thurman’s rep did not immediately respond to request for comment.
