A 19-year-old student has died after being repeatedly stabbed and slashed at his Toronto high school, police said.
A manhunt for a student suspect is now underway after the horrific 12:44 p.m. attack at North Albion Collegiate Institute Tuesday.
The victim was found by police without vital signs in the school’s lobby before being rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, The Star reported.
He was described as suffering injuries to his face and abdomen, City News reported.
A suspect was seen running from the front of the school, said police. They said they are now examining school surveillance videos.
Police tweeted around 4:30 p.m. that the suspect is close to turning himself in.
“Male suspect will be turning him self (sic) into Police in relation to the #NACIstabbing,” tweeted 23 Crime Prevention.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 17 years old with a medium build and medium height. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt.
A lockdown at the institute, as well as at other surrounding schools, was lifted just before 4 p.m. though police did not immediately say whether an arrest has been made.
