Apparently he can drink like a fish, too.
Olympic great Michael Phelps was arrested for driving under the influence Monday night in Maryland, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
The once-shining star with 18 Olympic gold medals under his belt has sunk to new depths, collecting his second DUI. He was pulled over around 1:40 a.m. in his white Range Rover, and he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system, according to the gossip site.
Phelps was initially pulled over for going 84 mph in a 45 mph zone, and then was booked on DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines charges.
He was busted in 2004 when he was 19 in Maryland after running a stop sign in his Land Rover. He ended up getting 18 months probation after striking a plea deal with prosecutors.
Then, in 2009, he was suspended by U.S. swimming officials after a photo surfaced of Phelps puffing on a bong at a party.
He lost endorsements from cereal maker Kellogg’s.
