U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer aced his walk-on role in “The Winter’s Tale” on Saturday night in Central Park.
And the spotlight-loving Democrat didn’t even have to brush up on his Shakespeare to do it. Playing himself, he was approached by a roguish character who asked if he was lost.
“We’re all lost in the Senate,” quipped Schumer, getting a big laugh from the capacity crowd at the Delacorte Theater.
He wasn’t the only pol at the Public Theater’s production that drew performers from city organizations and everyday folks.
Mayor de Blasio spoke before the show, applauding its arts-for-all mission and noting its larger lesson.
“We have to fight against any form of inequality,” he said before expressing pleasure in strides made for universal pre-K.
