The vultures are circling around Col Allan, struggling editor-in-chief of the loss-making New York Post. Confidenti@l hears that an executive at The Sun, News Corp.’s flagship London tabloid, has been identified as his potential successor. The news comes with the return to the London business of disgraced former chief executive Rebekah Brooks. Brooks has hired Tony Gallagher, a new editor-in-chief for The Sun, and he’s bringing in his own executive team.
Print circulation under Allan’s stewardship has plunged an incredible 53.5% — and left the paper hemorrhaging a whopping $ 70 million a year. To make matters worse for Allan, Post publisher Jesse Angelo dislikes him and openly talks about how Allan is a “digital dinosaur” who is getting in the way of Angelo’s Web ambitions, according to a source. Indeed, Allan is known to actively work against the digital team, to try to protect his weak print exclusives, the source says.
News Corp. chief executive Robert Thomson is also not a fan of the absentee EIC, whose appearances in the newsroom are allegedly sporadic and punctuated with irrational demands and outbursts. “If the story isn’t about homeless people pissing in front of Allan’s house, he doesn’t care,” sniffed one senior Post staffer. “It’s disgusting and stupid, and it’s the only thing he cares about.” Insiders say Allan’s bosses have run out of patience with his lack of attention to a paper they say is beyond saving because it’s old-fashioned, down-market and a turnoff for advertisers.
John Stamos says he’s kept a few “Full House” props, but isn’t a nut about it.
STAMOS DENIES LEADING ‘FULL’ LIFE
John Stamos downplayed claims by former “Full House” co-star Lori Loughlin that his home was full of props from the set of their 1990s sitcom. “I have some of the props,” Stamos confessed at the Paley Fest in L.A., where he was promoting his new Fox show, “Grandfathered.” “I kept the jukebox. I don’t have some weird dungeon … (like) a weird Michael Jackson thing,” he said. Stamos reportedly will be joined by his “Full House” co-star Bob Saget when “Grandfathered” premieres Sept. 29.
JAY & BLUE IVY RELAX BY THE BEY
The paparazzi just won’t leave Jay Z and Blue Ivy alone. But in this case, the pesky shutterbug tracking them down was Beyoncé. The power trio enjoyed sun and fun in Ile Sainte-Marguerite in Cannes, where they were spotted having lunch and taking photos for their scrapbook. They were also seen going for a family swim during the Mediterranean extravaganza.
Hilaria and Alec Baldwin take in the Carmen Marc Valvo show with their kids.
THE YOUNG LOOK IS BIG WITH BALDWINS
Babies are always in style for Alec and Hilaria Baldwin, who brought 3-month-old son Rafael and 2-year-old daughter Carmen to a runway show at Skylight at Moynihan Station. The Baldwin bunch sat front and center at Fashion Week’s Carmen Marc Valvo Women’s and Men’s Collection show during New York Fashion Week. Hilaria was also spotted at Badgley Mischka’s show with Carmen and stepdaughter Ireland on Tuesday.
A BLESSED FASHION WEEK
New York Fashion Week founder Fern Mallis says this year’s event has been a success, but thankfully not divine. “I’m glad it was this week and not next week, with the Pope’s traffic in town,” she told us at Naeem Khan’s runway show. Mallis then added, “Somebody should have done a papal collection this week, an homage. I’m surprised that nobody addressed that.”
REVIVAL AT THE JACOBS
What goes with “The Color Purple”? Beige, sky blue and coral. They’re interior hues at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, which is getting “a major” makeover. “They’re restoring the original colors of walls and ornamentation,” says Bill Evans, director of media relations for the Shubert Organization, which owns the theater. Seats and carpeting are all being replaced before Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson and company begin previews for the show on Nov. 10.
HUDGENS PLAYS THE HIGH CARD
Vanessa Hudgens has good credit! The actress waved around her credit card as she drove around Los Angeles after a shopping spree.
SWIFT’S PALS DON’T CAT AROUND
Don’t call them the Cat Pack. Martha Hunt, a member of Taylor Swift’s circle of girlfriends who have been dubbed “the new Rat Pack,” says the biggest myth about the crew is that “there’s a lot of cattiness that just does not exist.” “We’re all very supportive of one another,” the model told Confidenti@l of the group, which includes Karlie Kloss and Lena Dunham. “It’s very important to bring your girls up,” Duke told us at the Unitas Gala Against Sex Trafficking at Capitale.
PHARRELL TURNS IT UP TO COOL

The men’s mag also gives a shout-out to Alex Rodriguez, Ryan Seacrest, Anderson Cooper, Edward Snowden and Bradley Cooper, who made the commemorative October issue’s cover.
